Our Daily Rhythm
We are influenced by the long history of Christian monasticism. Guests will participate in our life of prayer, physical labour, study, and creativity. There will be times of conversation balanced with periods of refreshing silence. A guest’s participation is guided and varies with their abilities and desires.
The Five Hopes
All of us need God’s help to flourish in our lives. There are five things that we hope each of our guests will experience with us during their visit:
Healing
We have all been wounded and suffered various traumas.
Deliverance
We all know weakness and what feels like an inability to change.
Forgiveness
We have all been places and done things that we knew to be wrong.
Formation
Wherever we start, all of us need further growth, participating more fully in the abundant life offered us in Christ.
Shelter
We hope to be a safe place of hospitality, away from complexity and noisy distraction, a place where we can be revived and encouraged in what is most true and most important.
Our Posture Toward Society
Although the Farm is a place of retreat, our attitude is one of ‘generous encounter’ –the honest pursuit of the whole truth, to service, to closeness to the underprivileged, and to promotion of the common good.
Our Posture Toward Creation
In our day of increasing technological sophistication and crisis in the natural world, we intend to live in a way that is simple, sustainable, and sacrificial as needed.
